Cape Cod Times – Letter to the Editor: How Is Wind Energy Project Still Alive?
March 25, 2017
In regards to Audra Parker’s March 16 My View, “Interior Department must terminate Cape Wind’s lease,” I find it quite disturbing that Cape Wind and its attorneys are still “unequivocally” moving forward with their planned construction. It was my understanding that this project was finished, as nobody (except their investors who have already lost $100 million) is interested in this definitive boondoggle anymore.
What is it going to take for Cape Wind to fold this absurd venture? With lease in hand, Cape Wind is now doubling-down in the fairy tale hopes that somehow, sometime, its project will move forward. Good luck with that, because that same “I’ll win it back” attitude is the reason Las Vegas keeps building casinos.
I hope the Cape Cod Times and opponents of this project continue to look into why Cape Wind insists it is still alive, and why it is still allowed to hold a lease on Nantucket Sound — land that belongs to all of us. I implore all of us here on Cape Cod to continue to fight this ridiculous project until we know Nantucket Sound, the pristine and beautiful natural resource we all treasure, is permanently safe from development.
