A message from Audra Parker, President and CEO
The recent outpouring of thanks and support from the local community has been tremendous. I have received hundreds of congratulatory emails and calls since the news broke that Cape Wind finally gave up and relinquished their lease to 46 square miles of Nantucket Sound. While my team and I are very proud of this accomplishment, it is your generosity and unwavering support that truly made this happen.
Since our inception in 2002, our mission has been “not only to stop Cape Wind, but also to establish the Sound as a protected area to preserve its rich ecology and safeguard against future inappropriate development.”
Today, with Cape Wind out of the picture, we are able to devote our full attention to long-term protection of Nantucket Sound so that it is never again threatened by industrial development. We are exploring several different paths to achieve this goal, including protected designations and legislative actions.
I ask for your continued support as we seek permanent protection for the Sound. Would you please consider a tax-deductible donation by the end of the year to help preserve this national treasure? Nantucket Sound belongs to all of us. Let’s keep it that way!
