IN THE NEWS

Massachusetts must look to deeper waters
9/26/08 - APNS Statement
Massachusetts should follow the lead of Rhode Island and New York and embrace appropriately-sited, cost-effective, deepwater wind projects.

The Bluewater Vision
9/25/08 - APNS Statement
The Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound (Alliance) has examined the recently announced Bluewater Wind, LLC proposal for over eleven miles off the Delaware coast. The Alliance applauds the Bluewater executive team and Delaware political leaders for achieving a special “win-win” solution.

GE may change Cape Wind direction
9/25/08 - Cape Cod Times
"Whatever they substitute all the calculations in the environmental report have to be redone," Glenn Wattley, president and CEO of the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound, said during an interview this week. The answers, to him, are blowing in the wind; Vestas chief sees untapped energy source in U.S.
9/21/08 - Boston Globe

And, therefore, I am really wondering why anybody wants to put them up offshore because it's twice the price. So just as an outsider, I am just scratching my head saying, "Why?" Why don't we look at this from a more national perspective instead of just from the local perspective.

Whitcomb conflict of interest
9/20/08 - Providence Journal
While I appreciated your running my op-ed on the impact of the Cape Wind project on birds (“Cape Wind’s peril to birds,” Sept. 11), there are two matters of great concern that arise as a result. First, you chose to publish Wendy Williams’s column on the topic (“More bird baloney from the Alliance,” Aug. 30) before you ran my original. Ms. Williams must have seen it published in the Cape Cod Times, but chose to respond to it in your paper rather than in the Times.

Lehman Bankruptcy: More economic problems for Cape Wind?
9/19/08 - APNS Press Release
When Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy on Monday, the collapse of the well-respected investment bank left more than shareholders and employees scrambling. Without a massive capital infusion to revive the bank, this event may have left Cape Wind without its key financial advisor.
