Join us for a fascinating ACONS (A Celebration of Nantucket Sound) webinar with naturalist and educator John Hanlon as we explore the remarkable winter bird species that migrate south each year to Cape Cod and Nantucket Sound. From colorful waterfowl and diving ducks to loons, grebes, and other coastal birds, the Cape becomes a seasonal refuge for wildlife that breeds far to the north. As John puts it, “Winter on the Cape is like Florida for them!”
This engaging presentation will introduce us to the birds that transform our shores and waters during the colder months, while also offering insight into the habitats and ecosystems that make Nantucket Sound such an important winter sanctuary.
A Q&A session, moderated by Alliance president and CEO Audra Parker, will follow the presentation. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask John questions during the Q&A.

John Hanlon is a prominent naturalist educator and outreach ranger at the Cape Cod National Seashore. He works alongside the National Park Service, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, and Cape Cod Community College to facilitate educational programs and inclusive outreach for marginalized communities throughout Cape Cod.
